Abstract : This research evaluates groundwater resources in Rabigh area. This area is one of the most promising areas in the Southwestern province in Saudi Arabia. Forthcoming governmental developments and vigorous activities are planned to be located in and around it. It will play an important role in this part of the Kingdom as establishment of the King Abdullah Commercial City is intended to be located close-by. Also, the construction of the Makkah-Madinah railway will pass through this area where Rabigh city will represent one of the stations on the line. This of course, will result in an increase in number of population, and accordingly will put more pressure on the existing natural resources such as water. Thus, this study attains particular importance as there is no doubt that water in general and groundwater in particular, is the most precious recourse, especially in the Kingdom. This research will study the characteristics of the groundwater aquifer; both quantitatively and qualitatively. An intensive field work will be carried out to establish a preliminary foundation for database with comprehensive information about groundwater aquifer. Researchers will be able to suggest the best management practice for future groundwater usage in the area.
